State Government’s altered COVID rules an important step forward for business

CCIWA CEO

Chris Rodwell

The State Government’s announcement of key rules by which WA will operate once COVID caseloads increase, is an important step forward for businesses.

CCIWA appreciates the additional detail now available, particularly on subjects such as close contacts, isolation and critical workers.

It is important to note that these rules come into effect once a ‘high’ or ‘very high case’ thresholds has been reached. To understand how workable these rules will be, it is critical we understand these thresholds.

Having these rules will better enable businesses to plan how they will operate with COVID present in WA. We will now undertake further work with WA businesses to understand any potential challenges with their practical implementation.

CCIWA will continue to seek a reopening date and compensation for businesses negatively impacted by the shift in the reopening. Our survey of 400 businesses released today showed nearly three quarters of  respondents (71%) view this date as critical to their operations.

Today’s announcement gives businesses more to work with, and shows the State Government has listened to the concerns about uncertainty expressed by CCIWA and the business community.
