The Chamber of Commerce and Industry WA (CCIWA) is delighted to confirm the appointment of Esme Bowen and Dr Liz Dallimore to the CCIWA Board, achieving gender equity at the organisation’s highest level.
Board President and Chairman Nicolle Jenkins said the balanced Board composition is “an important baseline,” and vital to the continued success and strength of the state’s peak business organisation.
“We have focused on progressing many forms of professional, community and social diversity to drive different voices, perspectives and thought leadership reflecting our business community. With a 130-year legacy, I’m proud of how CCIWA continues to drive our vision to make WA the best state to live, work and do business.”
“With their diverse and distinguished careers, Esme and Liz will further enrich the experience and insight that CCIWA can draw upon. Their leadership will be particularly valuable in the context of diversifying the WA economy, as they bring experience across community, not-for-profit, emerging technologies, life sciences, health, transport, professional services and small business sectors.”
Both newly appointed Board members cited CCIWA’s vital advocacy in advancing economic reform prospects to secure better living standards for all Western Australians, as a key focus.
“CCIWA’s mission is to foster the best conditions for opportunity and prosperity for everyone in this State,” said Esme Bowen. “I welcome the Chamber’s focus on the care and community sectors, and I’ll be proudly backing further advocacy within these sectors in this Board role.”
“To diversify WA’s economy we need to cultivate innovation and entrepreneurship,” said Dr Dallimore. “WA can be more competitive and ambitious in sectors like biotechnology and advanced manufacturing, and I’m looking forward to making this state a world-leading place for start-ups.”
Esme Bowen brings nearly 30 years of diverse experience leading within the community, disability and nursing sectors. She is a director of Volunteering Australia and the Paraplegic Benefit Fund, and was formerly the RAC President and director of the Australian Automobile Association. Ms Bowen has been involved in retail, tourism and hospitality businesses and holds a BSc (Nursing) FAICD.
Dr Liz Dallimore is the CEO of clinical drug developer Argenica Therapeutics, and co-founder of medical device company Inspiring Holdings. A member of CCIWA’s General Council, she brings 20 years of leadership experience in biotechnology and management consulting to the role, including senior positions at KPMG, EY and PwC. Dr Dallimore holds a PhD in Neuroscience completed jointly at Oxford University and UWA, an MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management, and is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
