“This is a critical time for these businesses and these are high-value services that can help them survive and rebuild,” said CCIWA CEO Chris Rodwell.

“We’re thrilled that more businesses will have support to access these high-value services.”

The six-month CCIWA Essential membership package, worth almost $1000, would be available to 200 City-based businesses with fewer than 29 full-time employees.

Perth Bounce Back was launched in February, to provide a staged approach to City business recovery support, in the wake of the economic downturn brought on by COVID-19 restrictions.

The first phase of the package included free night-time parking in most City bays after 6:00 pm, free al fresco dining permits and grants of up to $5000, for eligible businesses to improve and retain custom.

The second phase also includes grants of up to $20,000, up to $100 in free parking for City of Perth parking card holders and free busking permits for new performers, and those wishing to renew.

“This is about getting our City buzzing again, with workers back in offices, supporting our businesses during their coffee and lunch breaks – or having a drink or meal after work – and enjoying the talent playing in the streets that day,” Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas said.

Rodwell said businesses have been thrown into deep uncertainty and are impacted by skills and worker shortages, delays, supply chain disruptions, and higher costs.

“Here in the CBD, we know we have hundreds of CCIWA members impacted by the decrease in patronage and lower foot traffic,” he said. “Mobility data indicates it is down 40 per cent.”

He added: “Throughout the crisis, CCIWA has been working hard to supply the clarity, certainty and peace of mind that comes from getting the best advice, business resources and expert assistance with planning and adjusting.”
