CCI wins award for payroll tax campaign

CCI’s state election payroll tax campaign has been named winner in its category at the WA Golden Target Awards, run by the Public Relations Institute of Australia to recognise excellence in the public relations industry.

CCI entered the Advocacy and Public Affairs Campaign category, with its campaign that managed to put the dry issue of tax reform on the public agenda during Western Australia’s last election campaign.

CCI’s campaign included independent public modelling that found lifting the payroll tax threshold by $100,000 would create almost 900 direct and indirect jobs and inject $283 million into the economy – but only cost the State Government $47m in reduced revenue.

The campaign was successful in putting payroll tax on the public agenda and securing a commitment from the Liberal party to raise the threshold by $50,000 if elected – the only tax cut announced by either party during the campaign.

While the Labor Party didn’t match the commitment, it did not rule out future reform based on CCI’s demonstration of how critical it was to job creation.

CCI’s payroll tax campaign is now a finalist in the National Golden Target Awards, which will be held at the Sydney Opera House on November 9.

PRIA CEO Ann Howard said being a finalist in this year’s awards was an amazing achievement. The 2017 awards had received a record number of entries and an enormous amount of high-quality submissions.

WA Works highly commended

CCI’s major projects and supply chain magazine WA Works was highly commended at this year’s Mumbrella Publish Awards.

Just a year after it was launched, the magazine was the only WA finalist at the national publishing industry awards.  It was pipped at the post for the Association or Member Organisation Magazine of the Year by LSJ, published by the Law Society of New South Wales.

It was not the only award WA Works was up for at the event, held in Sydney last month. CCI advertising and content officer Paula Connell was also named as a finalist for the Salesperson/Team of the Year Award.

Connell was the only non-team entrant among the finalists, with the category taken out by the Qantas Sales Team.
