Regional grants on offer to help with COVID-19 recovery

Businesses across regional WA are being encouraged to apply for a new round of State Government grants aimed at sustaining jobs and building business resilience and recovery from the impact of COVID-19.

Up to $6 million is available for regional projects under round three of the Regional Economic Development (RED) Grants program.

The grants aim to target projects that:

  • help sustain jobs;
  • expand or diversify industry;
  • develop skills and capacity; and
  • attract new investment or maximise recovery from COVID-19 pandemic impacts.

Regional Development Minister Alannah MacTiernan said it was an important time to get behind regional communities to help stimulate long-lasting economic growth.

The State Government has committed $28.8 million over five years to the program.

“Through the first two rounds of RED grants we have provided funding of $13.39 million to 137 projects focused on agriculture and mining manufacturing, infrastructure construction, tourism and professional skills development,” Ms MacTiernan said.

“We encourage everyone in the regions to consider how RED grant funding could be used to support or enhance their business or community project.

“Securing the future sustainability of our regions is key to encouraging people to live and work in regional WA.”

More information about the RED Grants program, including guidelines and application details, is available here or through WA’s nine Regional Development Commissions (RDC).

Each of the RDCs will then manage the grant round process for their region and will provide advice to applicants during the application stage.

Applications for round three close on July 7.
