New grants for regional projects

The State Government has opened the fourth round of the $40 million Regional Economic Development (RED) Grants program, with up to $250,000 available for regional projects that support jobs and business opportunities.

The first three rounds of the program have been allocated to 222 business and community-driven projects across regional WA.

The Government has committed $40.8 million over seven years towards the program.

Round four will focus on projects that increase or sustain jobs, expand or diversify industry, develop skills or capability, increase business productivity and attract new investment to the regions.

Regional Development Minister Alannah MacTiernan said the Government was supporting regional communities by investing in projects to stimulate economic growth and drive long-term sustainability.

“We encourage businesses and organisations across the regions to consider how RED Grant funding could support their projects,” she said.

“Diversifying regional economies and building local business is vital to the long-term strength of our regional communities.”

Applications close on October 21, 2021.

More information about the RED Grants program, including guidelines and application details, is available at  www.drd.wa.gov.au/rfr/REDG/ or through the State’s nine Regional Development Commissions web pages.
