Business Law secures gold standard QPS accreditation

CCIWA’s legal practice, Business Law WA, has obtained a Quality Practice Standard (QPS) accreditation for the fourth consecutive year, joining a select group of law firms in WA to secure the certification.

Business Law WA Directors (l-r) Justin Lilleyman, Ryan Martin and Cass Wright.

To hold QPS certification a legal practice is required to demonstrate that its processes exceed legislative requirements, with a focus on consistency and a client-focused approach.

These processes and practices are then audited each year by an external auditor.

“There are fewer than 50 QPS-accredited law firms in WA, making this a major achievement for Business Law WA,” says Ryan Martin, CCIWA Associate Director, HR and Workplace Relations.

“It sets us aside from other law firms and gives our clients the confidence that we are operating to the highest standard.”

Business Law WA provides employment/industrial relations and commercial legal services and is helmed by a team of 13 highly experienced lawyers.

“With the ever-increasing levels of red tape facing businesses as a result of ongoing industrial relations reforms and government regulations, it is important for businesses to receive practical legal advice tailored to their unique requirements,” says Martin.

QPS, which is overseen by the Law Society of WA, recognises law practices that have developed and adhere to standard internal processes designed to provide a consistent approach to management and to improve customer satisfaction.

The 5 areas of QPS

The QPS establishes procedures from the first contact with the client to the closure of the file, and is divided into five areas as follows:

  • The Procedures Manual
  • Taking Instructions
  • Handling a Matter
  • Finishing the Matter
  • Other Procedures

The QPS accreditation provides law firms with an excellent risk management tool aimed at improving customer satisfaction and internal systems of legal practices.

Cass Wright, Business Law Director, says “QPS accreditation is the gold standard for legal practices in WA, making this a significant benchmark for Business Law WA to meet each year”. “We are proud to hold this accreditation,” she says.

Business Law WA Director Justin Lilleyman adds: “It’s an independent audit that requires a great deal of input from us to ensure we comply with the five areas. Receiving the accreditation for the fourth consecutive year demonstrates we can be trusted with your businesses’ legal requirements.”
